Overview

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and Apple iPad Pro M5 are the undisputed kings of the premium tablet market in 2026. Both cost over $1,000, both offer stunning displays, and both are aimed at power users and creative professionals. But they take very different approaches — and choosing the wrong one can be an expensive mistake.

Display

The Tab S10 Ultra features a massive 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. The result is an absolutely gorgeous screen with deep blacks and punchy colors — perfect for media consumption and digital art.

The iPad Pro M5 uses a 13-inch Ultra Retina XDR OLED display (also 120Hz ProMotion) that Apple tunes for color accuracy above all else. Side by side, the iPad's display looks slightly more true-to-life, while the Tab S10 Ultra looks more vivid and dramatic.

Winner: Tie — depends on your preference for accuracy vs. vibrancy.

Performance

Samsung's Tab S10 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, which is blazing fast for Android. The iPad Pro M5 uses Apple's M5 chip — the same silicon found in the MacBook Air M5. In benchmarks, the M5 chip still edges out the Snapdragon 8 Elite significantly, particularly in sustained CPU performance and GPU tasks.

If raw performance matters — for video editing, 3D rendering, or creative apps — the iPad Pro M5 wins decisively.

Winner: iPad Pro M5

Software and Ecosystem

This is where things get deeply personal. Samsung runs One UI 7 on Android 15, which gives you access to the Google Play Store, sideloading, and excellent Samsung DeX desktop mode. If you're a Windows or Android user, the Tab S10 Ultra integrates seamlessly with your existing devices.

Apple's iPadOS 19 is polished and optimized for the M5 chip. Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and thousands of iPad-native apps run better on iPad than their Android equivalents. However, Apple's ecosystem lock-in is real.

Winner: Draw — Android users → Tab S10 Ultra. Apple users → iPad Pro M5.

S Pen vs Apple Pencil Pro

The Tab S10 Ultra includes the S Pen in the box. The Apple Pencil Pro costs $129 extra. For note-takers and illustrators, Samsung's bundled S Pen is a significant value advantage.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra (S Pen included, no extra cost)

Battery and Charging

Both tablets offer all-day battery life. The Tab S10 Ultra's 11,200mAh battery supports 45W wired charging. The iPad Pro M5 supports USB-C charging but tops out at about 30W. Samsung charges faster.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra

Price and Value

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra starts at $1,099 with the S Pen included. The iPad Pro M5 starts at $999 for the 11-inch model, but the 13-inch version — the true competitor — starts at $1,299, and the Apple Pencil Pro is an extra $129.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra (better out-of-the-box value)
