Google Pixel 9 Pro Review: The Best Android Phone of 2025
The Google Pixel 9 Pro is the most refined smartphone Google has ever made. After spending three weeks testing it as my daily driver, I can confidently say this phone raises the bar for what an Android device can be.
Design and Build Quality
The Pixel 9 Pro sports a premium matte glass back with a polished aluminum frame and a distinctive horizontal camera bar. It feels incredibly solid in hand, with an IP68 rating that means you can submerge it in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes. At 6.3 inches, the display is large without feeling unwieldy.
Display
The 6.3-inch LTPO OLED panel is simply gorgeous. With a 2856 x 1280 resolution, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and peak brightness of 3,000 nits, this screen beats most of the competition. Colors are vibrant yet accurate, and outdoor visibility is exceptional even in direct sunlight.
Performance
Powered by the Tensor G4 chip co-developed with Samsung, the Pixel 9 Pro handles every task thrown at it with ease. Multitasking, gaming, and AI-intensive features all run smoothly. Paired with 16GB of RAM, app switching is seamless and the phone never stutters.
Camera System
This is where the Pixel 9 Pro truly shines. The triple camera setup includes:
- 50MP main sensor with f/1.68 aperture
- 48MP ultrawide with macro capability
- 48MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom
Google's computational photography leads the industry. Night Sight, Best Take, Magic Eraser, and the new Add Me feature make this one of the most versatile camera systems available. Low-light performance is unmatched in its class.
Battery Life
The 4,700mAh battery comfortably lasts a full day of heavy use. Google's smart charging technology learns your habits and optimizes charge cycles. Wireless charging at 23W and reverse wireless charging at 12W add convenience.
Software and AI Features
Running Android 15 with seven years of guaranteed OS updates, the Pixel 9 Pro gets the latest Google AI features first. Gemini integration, Circle to Search, and Call Screen are genuinely useful tools that improve daily life.
Verdict
The Google Pixel 9 Pro is the definitive Android smartphone for users who demand the best camera, the latest AI features, and a clean software experience. At $999, it's not cheap, but it delivers exceptional value for what it offers.
